By adding a solar hot water system to your home, you will reduce the intake of electric power from your power company, thus reducing your monthly bill.
Depending upon the local rate structure and the size of the system, the reduction will vary from 20% to 25% or more. More importantly, you will make an important contribution to the environment.
Solar electricity is valuable to our future in many different ways:
- Free energy from the Sun
- Reduce utility bill
- Environmentally friendly
- Reduce dependence on foreign oil
- Provide hot water if utility power fails
How Does it Works?
Know the Facts!
The entire solar system is completely automated. Once it’s installed, you won’t have to think about its operation. You can just sit back and enjoy the benefits of owning your own mini power plant powered by the sun.
A low flow water circulation pump is activated either by a solar controller or small solar electric module that draws the coldest water from the bottom of the storage tank and sends it up to the solar collector. The water moves through the collector and picks up free heat provided by the sun. It is then returned to the storage tank. This simple cycle is repeated throughout the day as the suns heat is available.
At the end of the day, the circulation pump stops and the tank is full of very hot water ready for you to use all night. The storage tank is a hybrid solar/ electric system. Most of the heating is done by the sun but in the event that Mother Nature doesn’t provide enough heat from the sun on that given day, the electric back up heating element will turn on to ensure that your family has the supply of hot water they need.
